Cruising PNG Milne bay province 2016

Cruising PNG Milne Bay province 2016

We are just leaving on our spring 2016 cruise to the Milne Province of PNG which is about 1000km northeast of Cairns Australia. We will be soon immersed in a very different culture visiting many small villages scattered among the hundreds of small coral islands of the Louisiade Archipelago. Our boat is chock full of goods for trading and books etc. to donate to schools and needy communities. About 20-30 boats a year visit this area and Australian yachties are well known for the support they provide to a region which has very little resources or contact with the outside world
We are also excited about diving opportunities. Untouched Coral Reefs along the archipelago, then there is the famous muck diving locations just off the northern coast of Milne Bay. We might even find some of those elusive PNG pigmy sea horses … we have our magnifying glass 🙂
There is no phones or internet in this area so will be very much looking forward to catching up with everyone on our return later in December. Plus of course showing our snapshot of this unique area right on our FNQ doorstep 🙂

.ready for our PNG 2016 cruise

Flash Dancer is down to the waterline with 2300lts of Diesel along with lots of additional goods. We have been working tirelessly now for three months to prepare her. We think she is in the best condition possible. It will take us three plus days to reach our entry point in the Louisiades, so we are hoping the beam on winds are no stronger than the predicted 15-20knots with the odd patch of 25knots.

Cheers Rob and Syl
